Ryan Shazier’s football career was brought to a premature end by a spinal cord injury, but the former Pittsburgh Steelers star linebacker has remained an inspiration to many.

He walked again. He kept moving forward. And now he has a new business designed to help folks who are going through tough times and physical pain.

Shazier announced Thursday a partnership with Pennsylvania dispensary, Organic Remedies, as he launched his “Steel City Greats” lineup of cannabis products.

“God has a bigger plan for me, and I am using my blessings to help others through ventures such as my partnership with @Or_Remedies which allows me to share the Steel City Greats to help those in need of pain management, depression, and anxiety relief,” he tweeted.

The website {steelcitygreats.com} has an intro that explains that Shazier “found restorative healing through medical marijuana as he underwent intensive physical therapy following a serious spinal injury.”

“Ryan found medical marijuana to be a safe, natural alternative to opioids to combat pain associated with a serious spinal injury and intense rehabilitation following that injury.”

The website features four different strains “Walking Miracle,” which is a hybrid, “Steel City Greats 50″, which is an Indica, “Speed,” a Sativa and “Shalieve,” also an Indica.

Per the website, the strains will be available at Organic Remedies’ dispensaries in Chambersburg, Enola, Paoli, North Pittsburgh, South Pittsburgh and York.

Shazier officially announced his retirement in 2020.

He suffered the spinal cord injury in December of 2017 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

After the Steelers drafted him in 2014, Shazier played in 46 games and started 41 while amassing 299 tackles (24 for loss) and seven sacks.
